Welcome

At Elevated Ink Tattoo Studio, our goal is to show our clients a more professional side of tattooing. We have worked to create a calm, at home atmosphere, while still keeping a high level of professionalism and cleanliness that should be expected of any tattoo studio. We've passed the IDPH inspection with flying colors every year since we opened in 2015 and all of our equipment is disposable, one time-use. We specialize in custom tattoo designs and work by appointment only - to cater to each client individually. Because we know how important and meaningful a tattoo can be, every tattoo we create is a group effort between us and our client, so their new artwork can be enjoyed for a lifetime. With this being said, we respect our clients and will only commit to tattoos we are confident we will excel at. Check out our portfolios below, and we hope to work with you soon!

Hey everyone! I began my tattoo career in 2012 just outside of my home town, Kenosha, WI. My apprenticeship was short & sweet, but I picked up on things very quickly. At the beginning of 2014 I moved to the Rockford area and tattooed at a couple of the local shops before we decided to open our own studio in Roscoe. It's been great having our own space and being able to cater to each and everyone of our clients without there being any "competition" between us. I offer permanent brows (scroll down to the "Brows by Laura" tab for more info) which has taken up most of my schedule! Because of this, I have become pretty picky about the tattoo projects I take on. Black & gray realism, fine line, and stippling are my go-to styles.

Hey guys, Troy here! I began my journey in the tattoo industry in 2009. I started my apprenticeship in 2010 in Rockford, Illinois at a local walk-in shop. I continued to pave my way by attending and working at tattoo conventions, and multiple tattoo seminars around the country to really focus and learn different aspects of tattooing. My style of work is Black and Grey custom tattoos and having artistic freedom to create. I enjoy creating one of a kind designs for my clients that you can't find on google. Thank you for checking out my work and taking the time to learn a little bit about me , I hope to work with you in the future!

Please be as specific as possible, and include as much of the following information as you can. -

  • Estimated measurement (inches by inches) -

  • Reference photos are welcome! This helps us tremendously.

  • If we are working around an existing tattoo,  include a photo of the area so we can see what we will be working around.

Please understand there are only 2 of us here and we stay very busy. We ask that you give us up to 2-5 business days to respond to your inquiry.

SCHEDULING PROCESS / POLICIES *

We schedule a consultation first and foremost so we can chat in person and make sure we are on the same page with the direction/specifics of the tattoo. Once we have agreed on everything and are ready to move forward with scheduling, we require a nonrefundable deposit to finalize the tattoo appointment.  The deposit will be $100+ depending on the size of the tattoo.  WE DO NOT START ANY DRAWING/DESIGNS UNTIL WE HAVE RECEIVED YOUR DEPOSIT.  We simply do not have enough hours in the day to draw numerous options for each client to choose from. This is why we ask that you be as specific as possible with your wants/ideas so that we can get the design right the first time.  The deposit goes toward the final price of the tattoo session but is not refundable if you cancel, if you show up 20+ minutes late to your appointment, or if you do not give at least 72 hours notice if you need to reschedule.  We will reschedule your appointment one time with the original deposit if you have given enough notice. If you must reschedule again, your original deposit will be forfeited and you will need to leave a new deposit if you wish to schedule again.

BROWS by Laura

What is Microblading? Powder Brows? Nano Brows?

These are permanent makeup procedures that can last indefinitely, but need touching up after 1-3 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine.

  • Microblading is done using a hand tool with ultra fine needles and each 'hair' is carefully etched into the skin, mimicking hair. This technique is only suited for very healthy, normal to dry skin with small pores. This is not a technique I recommend after 5 years doing eyebrows. I am leaving this segment here to explain my reasoning for taking this off my service menu. Microblading creates more scar tissue than any other technique, therefore makes it difficult to keep working over year after year when the client comes for a refresh appointment. I 100% recommend machine work because the pigment is implanted in the skin in a much more gentle way. Please do not feel offended if I deny service to you if you ask for this technique, it is nothing personal, just my own conclusion over time.

  • The powder brow technique is done with a tattoo needle and machine but instead of single hair strokes, the brow shape is shaded in for more of a "filled in" or "makeup ready" look. The density can definitely be built with this technique, it is not an automatic "sharpie brow". It heals very soft and pretty, but keeps its definition. This is suited for all skin types, and is your best bet if you have oily skin, mature skin, or large pores.

  • Nano brows are hair strokes created with machine and needle, suitable for all skin types. Shading can also be added to create depth and dimension.

How long does it take? What should I expect during the appointment?

The first session should take about 1.5 to 2 hours. During this session, I will map out an eyebrow shape according to your unique facial features. I will hand you a mirror and we can make any tweaks to the shape that you see fit. Once we agree on a shape, I will apply a numbing cream to the brows, and we will select pigment color.  Once you are satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure. You are to come in for a follow up visit 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment in order to have any necessary touch ups. Brows are NOT complete until after both sessions! Depending on color retention, the followup session will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

What is the healing like?

The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear a bit bold, dark, and even have a slightly warm tone to it. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 50% as it heals. In the following days, you will begin to notice light flaking of the skin. Do not pick at the brows as this may damage the skin and the overall outcome. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as it heals. No down time is required after the procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You'll notice the color is very light after about two weeks of healing; the skin will have an opaque milky look to it, and it may even look as though your new brows have completely disappeared. This is due to the the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once FULLY healed.

Does it hurt?

The pain level is considered mild to none.  Before we get started I will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area, which will also be reapplied during the procedure.  Everyone responds differently to anesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling has been described as light scratching or plucking, to not feeling anything at all. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine. After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn.  You may take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.

How long does it last?

Permanent makeup is permanent. Since this technique does not implant pigment into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will fade overtime, but should be treated as a permanent change to your appearance. It typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature) and skincare routine. Each individual's color retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested after about 18 months. Clients can let the area fade over time, but please note some color may remain indefinitely.

How much does it cost?

The total cost is $600. I ask for a $100 deposit to set the appointment, $400 owed when you come in for your first session, and $100 owed at the followup appointment. Sometimes another session is necessary. Additional appointments are priced starting at $100 and up depending on how much of the pigment has faded and time since last appointment. This will be determined on a case by case basis.

1+ Year "Color Boost" Appointment - Starting at $300 and also a case by case basis depending on how much pigment remains/how much time has passed since your last procedure.
